WEST POINT -- A limited number of coins have been made to commemorate West Point's 75th anniversary, city officials say.
The coins will be given to community members who have made a significant impact on the city, said Assistant City Manager Tom Hansen.
"The coin is not for sale. It is intended as a thank-you for people who help with the city celebrations or other volunteer functions within the city," he said.
"There were a very limited number of coins created because we simply could not afford to furnish each resident with one of the coins."
Hansen said the design is a tribute to the past as well as to a community that looks forward to a bright future.
"The commemorative coin represents who we are as a city and where we are as a community. The coin shows our location in Utah with a small cubic zirconium and a star," Hansen said.
"We are a patriotic community living in arguably one of the best states in the Unites States and living in one of the best cities in Utah.
"The coin has a 3-D beet wagon on the back representing our hardworking past and our industrious residents."
