SALT LAKE CITY -- The Utah Blaze defeated the San Jose SaberCats 76-68 in front of 8,815 fans at EnergySolutions Arena late Saturday, moving Utah (5-4) into second place in the AFL's Western Division behind Arizona (8-2).

"This was a game we needed to win," Utah coach Ron James said. "We've talked about it all year how we need to take advantage of our home field advantage and we did just that.

"Now we have to keep it rolling next week at Iowa."

The Utah Blaze fell to the Milwaukee Mustangs 65-53 late Saturday in front of 7,667 at EnergySolutions Arena.

After being down by 20 in the second quarter, Utah fought back to take the lead before falling in the final minutes. The loss was the first at home for the Blaze (4-4) this season.

"It's a tough loss for us," said coach Ron James. "We made some mistakes and that kept us from being able to pull off the comeback. Now we have to move on and gear up for San Jose next week."

Spokane scored 27 points in the fourth quarter, but couldn't overcome Blaze quarterback Tommy Grady, who completed 24-of-36 passes for 245 yards and six touchdowns.
