Triplets times two at Ogden hospital

OGDEN — The father of the triplet girls joked about looking forward to arranged marriages of his daughters to triplet boys, to get the weddings over with simultaneously.

Triplet births of the same gender are rare enough, yet here soon after came triplet boys born in the same hospital.

The neonatologist decided they needed to meet.

Cap improves survival rate of oxygen-deprived infants

OGDEN -- Scarlett Graham entered the world just before 8 a.m. on July 13, 2011, and for the next nine hours, Cory and Jennifer Graham's newest bundle of joy was a happy, healthy newborn. Then Scarlett stopped breathing.

Report: Utah ranks No. 7 in overall health

OGDEN -- Utah currently ranks seventh in the nation when it comes to the overall health of its residents, the same spot it held in last year's rankings.

The 22nd annual America's Health Rankings shows Utahns have a lower prevalence of smoking, binge drinking and obesity than other states. In addition, the state has a low rate of preventable hospitalizations, low rates of cancer deaths, cardiovascular deaths, infant mortality and adult diabetes.

The report shows a 10 percent drop in preventable re-hospitalizations among Medicare patients for illnesses such as pneumonia, asthma, congestive heart disease and diabetes.

2-week old baby rescued after Turkish quake

ERCIS, Turkey — A 2-week-old baby girl and her mother were pulled alive from the rubble of an apartment building on Tuesday in a dramatic rescue, nearly 48 hours after a 7.2-magnitude earthquake toppled some 2,000 buildings in eastern Turkey.

Ogden police say two infants found safe after suspected kidnapping/vehicle theft

OGDEN — Police are investigating the kidnapping of two small children later found unharmed in a stolen van recovered Monday in Ogden.

As of Monday night, no arrests had been made in connection with the incident, which remained under investigation by the Ogden Police Department Major Crimes Division, said OPD Lt. Troy Burnett.

OGDEN — A 27-year-old Ogden woman who pleaded guilty to murdering one of her infant sons was sentenced Friday to 15 years to life in prison.
