Utah man accused of shooting from vehicle on I-80

SALT LAKE CITY — Authorities say a Salt Lake City man is facing felony weapon and drug charges after a witness reported seeing him shooting a gun from the driver’s side of a black Cadillac Escalade on Interstate 80.

Trooper Cameron Roden says 31-year-old Franklin Wright was arrested late Tuesday at a gas station not far from his home after the witness reported his vehicle license number to police.

Troopers and SWAT team members had gathered outside Wright’s house.

Investigators reported finding a gun and drugs in the vehicle.

Roden says Wright wouldn’t say what he was shooting at, but troopers found that several bullets hit the freeway median.
Wright is being held at the Salt Lake County Jail pending a court appearance.
