SALT LAKE CITY -- A Utah state trooper helped rescue three people from a frigid pond near Great Salt Lake in Tooele County after their van rolled.
The women were traveling westbound on Interstate 80 just after 12:30 p.m. and were on the off-ramp connecting to State Road 36 when their minivan drove into an ice-covered retention pond.
The accident near the Tooele exit west of Salt Lake City was reported about 1:15 p.m. Saturday.
The highway patrol says the trooper and all three travelers were treated for hypothermia, but none suffered serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
