New report on F-16 crash refutes earlier claim of maintenance error

HILL AIR FORCE BASE — A new Air Force investigation has found that the engine failure that caused a Hill Air Force Base F-16 to crash last spring likely could not have been detected by maintenance workers — a finding that is contrary to the initial crash report.

HILL AIR FORCE BASE -- Flying operations have been suspended at Hill Air Force Base until further notice following an F-16 crash at the Utah Test and Training Range on Friday.

Government to pay family $17.8M for Marine jet crash that killed 4

SAN DIEGO -- A federal judge on Wednesday ordered the U.S. government to pay $17.8 million to a family that lost four members when a Marine Corps fighter jet crashed into their San Diego home in 2008.
