Free Kick Butts Day party set for ages 12-18

OGDEN -- A free party to celebrate national Kick Butts Day will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Fat Cat's, 2261 Kiesel Ave., in The Junction.

The event, sponsored by the Weber-Morgan Health Department, will include pizza, bowling, bumper cars, golf and arcade games for youths ages 12 to 18.

Ogden mayor bids farewell, hammers critics

OGDEN -- In his final address as mayor of Ogden, Matthew Godfrey stopped twice to collect himself. He spoke about how the pressures of public criticism had damaged the family name his father was proud of and how the death of his father four years ago affected him.

OGDEN -- State officials agreed Wednesday to allocate to the city about $11.3 million in tax-exempt bonds for construction of a hotel and underground parking garage at The Junction.

The city's administration and Redevelopment Agency requested the allocation from the Utah Department of Community and Culture.

Bonds will come from unused federal stimulus funds awarded to other Utah municipalities.

Developer in default: Bank has 'solutions' to finish building in Ogden's Junction

OGDEN -- The developer of the unfinished Earnshaw Building has defaulted on a $6.2 million bank loan.

DE Ogden Development LLC has until Aug. 25 to correct the default for the six-story building at 339 E. 2250 South, Bob Parks, senior vice president for First Community Bank, based in Salt Lake City, said Wednesday.
