Roy High's Hoggan gets six months for bomb scheme

OGDEN — Joshua Kyler Hoggan pleaded guilty Tuesday to possession of a weapon of mass destruction in a scheme to explode a bomb at Roy High School and was sentenced to a minimum of six months in a juvenile facility.

Hoggan, 17, also was ordered by Juvenile Court Judge Janice Frost to pay $8,000 to $10,000 in restitution to Roy High to re-key the school.

In exchange for Hoggan’s guilty plea, prosecutors abandoned efforts to try him as an adult.

Jail-bound nunchakus thrower from Centerville slams court-ordered anger course

FARMINGTON — A 31-year-old man accused of hitting his wife with nunchakus told a judge the eight-week anger-management course he took was a waste of money.

Second District Judge John R. Morris then sentenced Andrew James Lukenbach on Monday to serve 90 days in Davis County Jail, allowing him work release and time out to go to therapy.

Judge rules open court for Hoggan appearances over alleged Roy High bomb plot

OGDEN — Juvenile Court Judge Janice Frost ruled Thursday that all future actions in her court will be open if they are connected with Joshua Hoggan, one of two youths charged with plotting to explode a bomb at Roy High School.

Frost said Utah law and the public’s interest in her court’s decisions outweigh whether Hoggan will be embarrassed, or his ability to be rehabilitated harmed, by public access.

Hoggan ordered to remain in juvenile facility

OGDEN — For the second time, a judge has declined a request to release from jail the 16-year-old suspect in a Roy High School bombing plot.

But 2nd District Juvenile Judge Janice Frost on Friday did grant a request for furloughs with Joshua Kyler Hoggan’s parents so the teen can continue mental health counseling.

After Friday’s brief hearing, officials declined to comment on the exact status of Hoggan’s medications or treatment.
