Information on checks issued by Kaysville city to be posted online

KAYSVILLE - The city council recently decided to post the detailed claims lists that are approved at each city council meeting on the transparency section of their website.

The claims list, sometimes referred to as warrant registers, includes all checks issued by the city. They are reviewed and approved by the city council at each council meeting.

In an attempt to further increase the transparency of their functions, the council chose to make this information more readily available to citizens.

Teen girl named Kaysville Youth Citizen of Year

KAYSVILLE — The city council recently named 16-year-old Kate Simpson as the Kaysville Youth Citizen of the Year.

Simpson earned the award by dedicating many hours of service to the community over her three years on the city’s youth council.

The city will host its annual Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m., April 7.

The free event is at Barnes Park, 950 West 200 North.

All Kaysville and Fruit Heights residents are invited to attend.

The city council recently approved a development agreement and rezone request for a 16 bedroom assisted living facility on 0.66 acres at 770 South Main Street.

Developer Keith Russell said that the proposed building will be considered a Type I Assisted Living Center, which means that the patients will be mobile and capable of escaping independently in case of an emergency.

Fight for Kaysville students' safety not over

KAYSVILLE -- From the time the school bell rings until her 13-year-old son arrives home, Emily Smalley worries if he is going to get home safely.

"My kid comes home and I think, 'Oh good, he made it safe,'" Smalley said.

A few weeks ago, her son Andrew crashed his bike in the middle of the road on his way home from Centennial Junior High School. Andrew claimed that the sidewalk, where he had been told to ride, was too full of pedestrians to accommodate his bike.
