FARMINGTON -- In moving forward, the Lagoon amusement park this season will be stepping back in time.
The park at this time has no plans to add a multimillion-dollar ride for the 2010 season, scheduled to begin April 3.
Instead, park officials are looking at offering limited-engagement specialty acts, an example being the primate show presented for a limited time last season.
"We hope to have a couple of shows, live entertainment, in addition to the song-and-dance stuff," said Dick Andrew, Lagoon executive vice president of marketing.
"People love it, and we're excited by those prospects."
Years ago, the park featured limited-engagement specialty acts that were included in the price of admission.
Some of the acts included an ice-skating show, a high-dive act and a group of performing sea lions, Andrew said.
He said the park has not finalized what those acts will be this year or where the acts will perform.
He said it's likely the shows will be held on the green space immediately west of the Jumping Dragon ride.
"We hope to do two of those shows over the course of the summer," Andrew said.
The park will also continue to offer all live-performance shows as part of the cost of park admission.
The cost for a regular adult ride passport this season is $42.95 plus tax, which is a $1 increase over the 2009 season admission price.
That cost excludes any discounts or coupons the park has available, according to the Lagoon Web site.
For the last several weeks, the entertainment staff at Lagoon has been holding auditions for its shows.
Show auditions will be 9 a.m. Saturday at 375 Lagoon Drive, Farmington.
Those auditioning for a role are to check in with guest services.
