SALT LAKE CITY -- Retired state employees can go back to work part-time two months after they have retired after lawmakers approved a bill Tuesday.
Senate Bill 125, sponsored by Sen. Dan Liljenquist, R-Bountiful, was approved, 69-0, by the House. It now goes to the governor for further consideration.
Currently, state employees, including teachers and police officers, have to wait up to one year before they can go back to work after they retire.
The retiree can only work part-time and cannot receive any benefits, says the bill.
