Lockheed Martin seeks voluntary layoffs

WASHINGTON — Facing potentially deep cuts to government spending, Bethesda, Md.-based Lockheed Martin plans to eliminate up to 350 mid-level manager positions through voluntary layoffs over the next few months.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Lockheed Martin has been awarded a contract to sustain the ground control segment for the GPS satellite constellation.

The U.S. Air Force Space Command Space and Missile Center awarded Lockheed Martin a $100 million contract to support the GPS ground control segment. The contract’s period of performance is from January 2013 through June 2019.

Hill Air Force Base will provide support work as part of the contract.
