Former Morgan County official sentenced for stealing from county

SALT LAKE CITY — U.S. District Court Judge Dee Benson was blunt Tuesday when sentencing former Morgan County Administrator Garth B. Day to 48 months in federal prison for stealing from the county.

Day “is a schemer,” Benson said. “He is a typical con artist. He says what he needs to say to get his way.”

St. George man in mail fraud case to be released on bond

SALT LAKE CITY -- A southern Utah businessman accused of defrauding online consumers will be released from jail after friends and family put up $2.8 million in assets to ensure he'll show up for a federal trial.
