A plea from someone who needs help: 'I'm still me'

Sarah is a nice, quiet middle-aged woman, smiling and friendly, but when I asked her how old her children are, she paused. Her eyes looked to the side. She closed her mouth and wrinkled her brow.

"Some days I just can't remember," she said finally. "I have a degree from Weber State University, but I can't remember what I studied."

(M. SPENCER GREEN/The Associated Press) U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Victor Fehrenbach is an F-15E fighter pilot who announced he was gay on national TV in 2009 after the Air Force started discharge proceedings against him. The end to the U.S.’s long-standing ban on openly gay troops serving in the military ends Tuesday. The U.S. joins 29 other nations that allow gay individuals to serve openly in their militaries.

Now you can adopt sharks

MIAMI -- Here in Florida, you can adopt a highway, a park, a manatee, a tree -- donating money and time to make sure the object or creature of your interest receives care and upkeep.

And now, you can also adopt a shark.

For $2,000, you can purchase a satellite tag to be attached to a bull, hammerhead or tiger shark, tracking its movements for up to a year while you follow it in real time on the Internet. And you also get to name your shark.

But it may not have input from the Marine, Wassef Ali Hassoun, or his family.
