SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The Utah attorney general's office says it is investigating the public release of a list of names of 1,300 purported illegal immigrants for possible criminal violations.
State officials say two Department of Workforce Services employees wrongfully accessed and distributed the private information of those on the list.
The list includes Social Security numbers, birth dates, workplaces, addresses and phone numbers. Names of children are included, along with due dates of pregnant women.
Intentionally releasing a private record in Utah is a misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
The department turned over information from its investigation to the attorney general's office on Wednesday.
