Masters meltdown behind him, McIlroy moves on

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- In the aftermath of his Masters meltdown, one phone call that meant the most to Rory McIlroy was from Greg Norman, the master of the Sunday collapse at Augusta National.

Player relishes latest Master's honor

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Gary Player's upcoming ceremonial drive is the latest Masters' honor in a career filled with them.

Haney: Woods' chances at Masters depends on putter

NEW YORK -- Tiger Woods' former swing coach thinks the 14-time major winner's chances at the Masters next week depend on his putter.

Tiger back to being bookies' favorite for Masters

LONDON -- Tiger Woods is back to winning, and back to being the British bookies' favorite to win the Masters.

Adamson: Dumb mistake at Augusta National goes viral

It's hard to believe that Charl Schwartzel's remarkable victory in the 75th Masters could be upstaged by a security guard, but it has. And what was, at its core, a stupid mistake has become something of an international incident.

New Jersey-based columnist Tara Sullivan was trying to interview Rory McIlroy when a female security guard prevented her from going into the locker room where McIlroy had entered.

She (the security guard) mumbled something about since there was an open bathroom in the area no females were allowed, and if she tried to go in another guard would stop her.

McIlroy, Quiros take early lead in Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The flair of Rory McIlroy. The sheer power of Alvaro Quiros. These are but two of the fresh faces in golf who offered more evidence Thursday at the Masters that a new generation is on the way.

And that's only going to make it tougher on Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods.

The 21-year-old McIlroy, who opened with a 63 at St. Andrews last summer in the British Open, again delivered exquisite shots on one of golf's biggest stages for a 7-under 65. It was such a clean round that he didn't make a bogey and was left wondering how much lower he could have gone if not for missing five birdie chances inside 10 feet.

Storm delays opening of practice round at Masters

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta National has opened its gates after a 45-minute delay to give workers time to clean debris from overnight storms before practice rounds at the Masters.

The storms toppled trees and some power lines across town. There was no word on any damage to the golf course.

Nicklaus' Masters win 25 years ago will never get old

Jack Nicklaus was 46, winless for two years, and six years removed from his 17th major title.

Not even the Golden Bear liked his odds of winning when he arrived at Augusta National for the 1986 Masters.

"I didn't have a lot of goals at that point in my life as it relates to playing golf," he said recently.
