SYRACUSE — Maintaining she is on solid legal ground, Councilwoman Karianne Lisonbee has refused to recuse herself from discussions about changes in the city’s animal ordinance.

In a work session Tuesday, the first-term councilwoman stuck by her guns in defending her attendance at a Feb. 21 planning commission meeting, at which she offered input on language in the city’s ordinance relating to potential abuse of animals.

Clinton wants to hear ideas from residents

The city council will hold several information-gathering meetings to begin the process of updating the general plan.

The purpose of the meetings is to hear residents’ ideas and desires to plan for the future of the city.

According to City Planner Steve Parkinson, the general plan for the city was last updated in 1984. Dates, as printed in the Clinton newsletter include: Jan. 31, Feb. 10 and Feb. 24, tentatively March 5, and if needed March 16. All meetings will be held at the Clinton Recreation Center located at 1651 W. 2300 North, each starting at 7 p.m.
