Police memorial to be unveiled

OGDEN — A new monument commemorating Ogden police officers killed in the line of duty will be unveiled in a ceremony at noon Wednesday at the Municipal Gardens on the grounds of the Municipal Building, 2549 Washington Blvd.

At the top of the list is Jared Francom, shot Jan. 4 this year while serving a search warrant. He died early the next day.

Association honors Weber County chief deputy killed in 1908 with new memorial

OGDEN — More than a century ago,

a man shot and killed Weber County Chief Deputy Seymour LeGrande Clark, who was investigating a trespassing.

His memory and sacrifice are finally immortalized.

SALT LAKE CITY -- The name of slain Ogden police officer Jared Francom was added to the Utah Law Enforcement Memorial during a solemn ceremony Thursday at the state Capitol.

SALT LAKE CITY -- Susan Powell's family and friends are announcing a plan to establish memorials for the missing Utah mother.

Easter memorial balloon release set for Saturday in Ogden

OGDEN — Myers Mortuaries and Evergreen Memorial Park will hold an Easter Memorial Balloon release at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Those attending are requested to be at the Memorial Park mall, 100 Monroe Blvd., by 2:30 p.m. so they can decorate their balloons.

Felt-tipped pens will be available to write messages on the balloons, or prepared messages may be written on paper to be inserted in the balloons before filling them.

A helium tank will be provided to fill the biodegradable balloons.

Volunteers tie ribbons to show support for slain officer's family

OGDEN -- Dozens of warm-hearted volunteers arrived in 30-degree weather Tuesday night to tie blue ribbons for a community showing of mourning for slain Ogden Police Officer Jared Francom.

Volunteers tied large blue ribbons and placed them along today's funeral procession route from the Dee Events Center to the Ogden City Cemetery.

Wreaths Across America honors military personnel

OGDEN -- The freezing temperatures did little to stem the flow of tears at an emotional Wreaths Across America ceremony Saturday morning at Evergreen Memorial Park.

Before about 20 onlookers, veterans representing each branch of the military laid wreaths at the foot of the corresponding military branch platform markers that have been erected encircling the cemetery flagpole.
