Dangerous pay being cut for some military deployments

HILL AIR FORCE BASE -- The list of dangerous places in the world will soon become considerably smaller -- at least according to the Department of Defense.The military announced earlier this month that it is planning to scale back bonus pay for service members who deploy to dangerous parts of the world.

SAN FRANCISCO -- An independent commission led by a former U.S. surgeon general has concluded there "is no compelling medical reason" for the U.S. armed forces to prohibit transgender Americans from serving and that President Barack Obama could lift the decades-old ban without approval from Congress, according to a report being released Thursday.

On Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, members of the 729th Air Control Squadron exercised a wartime mission on Hill Air Force Base. They provided communications and controlled airspace in a simulated bare base, hostile environment on the northern edge of the base. Lt. Col. Darin Humiston, 729th ACS commander said they had 75 airmen participating in the exercise.
