Motorcycle crash leaves Clearfield man in hospital

CLEARFIELD — A 35-year-old Clearfield motorcycle driver is recovering from injuries sustained from an accident.

James Steadman was driving his Harley Davidson north on 1000 West in Clearfield at 12:28 p.m. on Thursday when a Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Gregory Weyburn turned left to enter the parking lot of Utility Trailer Manufacturing Co., 1111 S. 1000 West, said Clearfield Assistant Police Chief Mike Stenquist.

Steadman, who was not wearing a helmet, received serious leg injuries and road rash, Stenquist said. He was flown by helicopter to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Weyburn, 19, of Syracuse, was cited for an improper turn, Stenquist said.

Police closed one lane of 1000 West for a short period to investigate the accident.
