Weber State University acting student Kalyn West was shocked when she got a callback for the iconic role of Reno Sweeney in Cole Porter's "Anything Goes" -- a madcap romantic comedy that opens tonight at Weber State University's Browning Center.
"To be very honest, when I first read the show, I typecast myself, and thought, 'I've got a shot at Erma,' who is a secondary character, the comic relief," West said.
But Reno was a confident, mature character at least a decade older than West, who is 21.
"I have a tendency to look very young onstage, and I had never had to play a character with a significant age difference from myself," West said.
And there was something else.
