Kent State shooting survivors want new probe

Four people wounded in the 1970 National Guard shootings at Kent State University have asked for a federal investigation centered on a digitally enhanced audio recording of the confrontation. Four students were killed and nine injured in the incident, which began as a campus protest against the Vietnam War.

'Spice' becoming a major problem for US military

SAN DIEGO — U.S. troops are increasingly using an easy-to-get herbal mix called “spice,” which mimics a marijuana high, is hard to detect and can bring on hallucinations that last for days.

Army captain gets unexpected leave to spend holiday with family

NORTH OGDEN -- The thought that Jennie Taylor might get to see her husband for Christmas wasn't even in her mind. Brent was deployed in October for 12 months in Afghanistan as part of a team of security force advisers.

He has been deployed during Christmas before and Jennie has always held out hope he might get to come home, but this year she didn't even get her hopes up. So as he stood in the family's kitchen with his four children draped around him, she was still in a happy shock.

Basketball players ready to break record, raise scholarship funds

CLEARFIELD -- They'll need a special scoreboard for this basketball game, one that will count points into the thousands.

Crews work around golfers at Davis course

KAYSVILLE -- The National Guard has gone home, but efforts to clean up the damage from last week's powerful windstorm continue.

The temporary dumping ground, which was set up Sunday at the site of the future Pioneer Park on Angel Street in Kaysville, is slowly getting smaller as trucks continue to make round trips to the Davis County landfill.
