SOUTH OGDEN — If he hadn’t been the first baby of the year in the Top of Utah, and possibly the State of Utah, the story of Jaden Adams’ birth could be told in one word.

Treehouse Museum celebrates New Year's long before bedtime

OGDEN -- The New Year's revelers descended in their best party finery just an hour before the clock struck 12. Some arrived already a bit wobbly on their feet.

By 11:30, at least a few partiers already were unconscious, smiling blissfully from beneath their sparkly homemade hats as they drooled on their brightly colored Onesies.

This was New Year's Eve the way the Treehouse Museum celebrates it: by counting down to noon on Dec. 31.

Maddison, LaVallee to try side-by-side jumps

SAN DIEGO -- What's better than one daredevil flying through the sky on New Year's Eve?

How about two.

Robbie Maddison and Levi LaVallee will make side-by-side attempts to break world records for the longest motorcycle and snowmobile jumps in the latest edition of the Red Bull: New Year. No Limits. series

The concurrent jumps will be over a 300-foot water gap at Embarcadero Marina Park on San Diego Bay.

LaVallee of Longville, Minn., was scheduled to attempt his snowmobile jump last New Year's Eve in snowless San Diego but was seriously injured in a crash during training two weeks earlier.

Maddison wants to jump 400 feet, which would shatter the current record of 391 feet. LaVallee wants to break his record of 361 feet, set hours before his big wipeout.

'EVE' fest hits high point tonight in SLC

People come to Utah this time of year to take advantage of the powder on the slopes.

Jason Mathis, executive director of the Downtown Alliance, wants them to also come for "EVE," the city-sponsored festival that falls between Christmas and New Year's in downtown Salt Lake City.

"I think 'EVE' is something we can add, something other communities have not done, or maybe don't want or need to do," said Mathis. "We want to have people think of us as a vacation destination between Christmas and New Year's. This event can do that, and is relevant for our hospitality community as well as downtown's business community."
