FARMINGTON — An orientation meeting for young women interested in potentially being part of the Miss Farmington Pageant in 2011 will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Community Arts Center, 120 S. Main St.

Utah receives grant to crack down on unreasonable health insurance premium hikes

WASHINGTON - HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has announced the award of $1 million to Utah to help crack down on health insurance premium increases. Utah will use this Affordable Care Act funding to help improve the oversight of proposed health insurance premium increases, take action against insurers seeking unreasonable rate hikes, and ensure Utahns receive value for their premium dollars.

Olympic medalist joins Utah Athletic Foundation team

PARK CITY - The Utah Athletic Foundation announced Wednesday, July 21, 2010 that Derek Parra, 2002 Gold and Silver Olympic Medalist in speed skating will be joining Utah's Olympic Legacy Foundation as its new Outreach Director for Youth Sports Programs. Parra will play a vital community role in helping Utah's youth connect with winter sports programs offered at Utah Olympic Oval and Utah Olympic Park. He will also oversee the Utah Olympic Oval's speed skating programs, ensuring a dynamic series of age-appropriate athlete development programs on the "World's Fastest Ice!"

Utah surfers to board with pros

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Develops Strategy to Help Waterfowl and other Migratory Birds Weather the Gulf Coast Oil Spill

WASHINGTON -- In a few weeks, millions of waterfowl and other migratory birds will soon begin their fall migration to wintering and stopover habitat along the Gulf Coast. In anticipation of this event, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is working with partners to anticipate and minimize the impacts of the Deepwater Horizon/BP oil spill on these birds.
