Man injured in motorcycle crash on Antelope Drive

LAYTON -- A 29-year-old Layton man is being treated for injuries he received after a car hit his motorcycle Wednesday morning. The man, who police have not identified, was wearing a helmet, "which played a significant role in the crash," said Police Lt. Quinn Moyes. He did not have any head injuries. The man was driving a 2007 black Honda motorcycle west on Antelope Drive at 6:30 a.m. when a 2001 red Pontiac Sunfire driven by a 19-year-old Ogden man turned left in front of him to go north on Sunset Drive."We received numerous 911 calls from neighbors reporting they heard a crash," Moyes said. The motorcycle driver suffered injuries to his pelvic area and leg. He was conscious when medical personnel arrived, Moyes said. A helicopter landed east of the scene on Antelope Drive and flew the man to the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City."It does not appear sun was a factor in the crash," Moyes said.Antelope Drive was closed until 8:45 a.m. to allow for the helicopter to land and for accident investigation.Citations are pending the outcome of the investigation, Moyes said.
