Still in the running / Morgan's Fab 5 into 'America's Got Talent' finals

Morgan County's Fab 5 power cloggers stood by Wednesday night as judges for "America's Got Talent" selected acts to move on to the competition's finals.
Judges kept three cowboy tenors, and sent a dog act packing.
They advanced a 75-year-old comedian grandma and a country crooning chicken farmer, and cut a 13-year-old ballet dancer.
Basketball-playing gymnasts were dismissed, then just two groups remained: a sibling gospel trio and Utah's own Fab 5.
With one remaining finals opening and two more minutes in the broadcast, the judges seemed stumped.
"I'm going to throw up the rules," said judge Piers Morgan, tossing his hands. "I'm going to send you both to the finals."
It was about 8:57 p.m. Wednesday when things went crazy at the Whitear home, in Peterson.
"I thought I was about to have a heart attack," said Laraine Whitear, the dancers' grandmother, who watched the broadcast with six family members.
"It's amazing. It's absolutely amazing and wonderful. We were so sad when it came down to choosing between the two groups. The girls love the other group, and we do too. I don't think it could have ended any way better than letting them both go to the finals."
The Fab 5, known during their childhood as the the Fab 5 Whitear Sisters, are Veva Ahlstrom, 24; Cambria Gibson, 28; Ayrion Myers, 31; Shaundalee Morgan, 33; and LaChere Vawdrey, 35.
All are married, with children. Two remain in Morgan County, two live in Idaho, and one resides in Arizona.
"There were yells and cheers when we saw what happened," Whitear said immediately after the broadcast.
"It's been an awesome experience for the girls. They are good girls and wonderful moms, and it's fun to see them get this far with the competition. Their families, husbands and friends have really rallied around to support them."
Grandfather Don Whitear wanted to get one message out.
"I just want people to know they are pretty outside and beautiful inside," he said.
The winner of the competition will get $1 million, paid over a period of years, and the chance to do a Las Vegas show in October.
NBC has other finalists to select from other semifinalists and has not yet announced the date that competition between finalists will begin.
