Time for Utahns to start turning off sprinklers

SALT LAKE CITY -- The Utah Division of Water Resources says it is time to start shutting down automatic sprinkler systems.

Because of recent storms along the Wasatch Front, the division says homeowners can turn off sprinkler systems for at least a week.

After that, it advises residents to watch the weather and landscapes to see if any more irrigation is necessary.

In a normal year, most landscapes only require one watering at the beginning of October and then systems can be shut down for the year.

The division has a weekly lawn-watering guide where residents can find out when to water their landscapes.
