Alzheimer’s group plans state action

CLEARFIELD — The Alzheimer’s Task Force will hold a public hearing from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at the North Davis Senior Activity Center at 42 S. State St. to develop a state plan of action for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia.

The task force has 20 appointees representing senior care services, area agencies on aging, physicians, individuals and family members affected by the disease, and government representatives, said task force chairman Nels Holmgren, director of aging and adult services.

The task force will submit before November its findings and recommendations to the State Health and Human Services Interim Committee, officials said.

There are more than 32,000 people with Alzheimer’s and 132,000 caregivers in Utah, said Nick Zullo, director of programs and advocacy for the Alzheimer’s Association.
