Monkey serves as reminder to sick Syracuse student, classmates

SYRACUSE — The 3-foot-tall, extra-soft, stuffed monkey sat on Isabel Hadley’s lap.

The fourth-grader had dropped by her Cook Elementary classroom Wednesday to say hello to her classmates and to see firsthand what the animal — officially named Monkey — was up to.

New Prevent Child Abuse Utah director may change nonprofit's direction

OGDEN — A change in leadership at Prevent Child Abuse Utah also may indicate a change in direction for the organization.

Suzanne Leonelli took over as executive director Jan. 17.

Economic recovery slow for US nonprofits

SEATTLE -- As the first signs of an economic recovery make the news, many of the nation's nonprofit organizations are digging in for another three to four years of financial distress, according to researchers who keep an eye on the charitable world.

Some larger nonprofits are seeing donations start to rise again, but most report their income is holding steady at lower, post-recession levels or is still going down, according to a new study from the Nonprofit Research Collaborative.
