Recently elected LeBaron to sit on North Davis Fire District Board

CLEARFIELD — The city council made an adjustment to its representatives on the North Davis Fire District.

Councilwoman Marilyn Fryer had served as the representative, but her council term will end at year’s end. Therefore, the city approved appointing newly-elected Michael LeBaron to serve as one of the city’s representatives to the administrative control board.

The term is from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2014.

The appointment was approved during the last regularly scheduled city council meeting of the year.

Utah State Firemen’s Association members and North Davis Fire District firefighters recently spent a Saturday building a ramp for retired firefighter Mike Becraft, who now uses a wheelchair for mobility because of progressive supranuclear palsy, a brain disease with no known cause, treatment or cure. Becraft, 65, started his firefighting career in Roy at 18 and retired as North Davis Fire District fire inspector in 2010. Because Becraft needed a ramp from his house to his garage, North Davis Fire District firefighters Kevin Lloyd (from left), Luke Watkins and Jeremy Krage jumped in to work with Capt. Mark Weekes and others to build and install it. The materials were donated. (Contributed photo)

Firefighters come to retiree's rescue with wheelchair ramp

LAYTON -- Lisa Becraft knew firefighters take care of each other.

But that knowledge didn't prepare the woman, who is caring for her husband Mike Becraft, for the service of willing firefighters, who recently built a wheelchair ramp at her home.

HARRISVILLE -- Even in these rough economic times, North View is a well-run fire district, and the candidates for the Board of Trustees want to keep it that way.

There are three seats open, but only Division One representing Harrisville will have a primary. Division Two, representing North Ogden, and Division Three, representing Pleasant View, have two candidates each and will go directly to the general election in November.

Chad R. Allen, Robert R. Allen, Jeffrey R. Grunow and Kathleen Hohosh all hope to represent Harrisville on the North View Fire District Board of Trustees. The Allens are not related to each other.
