Utility rates on the rise in Roy

ROY — Residents will be paying more for city utilities, some as much as $9 per month starting in August, under the tentative budget adopted by the city council.

Because of those increases, the council decided not to increase property taxes.

Two main factors are combining to produce the utility increase.

“This is an attack on me. If you don’t want me there, tell me why you want me off there,” Peterson said at the end of a work session Tuesday, when the appointment was discussed.

Council appoints sewer board representative

LAYTON — It’s a “crappy” job, but someone’s got to do it.

That was the joke going around the city council meeting Thursday night when the council appointed Michael Bouwhuis as representative on the North Davis Sewer Board.

“It has been one of the responsibilities I’ve had an interest in,” said Bouwhuis. “I look forward to being very active on that board. It’s important for the residents of Layton to be represented there, since they pay fees.”

Clearfield may talk about sewer bond

The city is expecting to talk about potential bonding for the North Davis Sewer District in the new year.

Ivan Adnerson, Clearfield’s Sewer District Board representative, came to a recent council meeting to update the council about sewer board on goings. City Manager Adam Lenhard said there was a brief mention of plans for potential improvements.

He explained the city council would schedule future work sessions to discuss these possibilities in January. He added there is potential to explore bonding and the sewer district.

Syracuse's Kimmel replaced on sewer board

SYRACUSE -- A councilman embroiled in a dispute about a potential profit from his insider role in the sale of property has been replaced as the city's representative on the North Davis Sewer District Board.

In action taken Tuesday night, the Syracuse City Council appointed Councilman Doug Peterson to the North Davis board, replacing Councilman Matthew Kimmel.
