Men real cool D.O.G.S. at Ogden school

OGDEN — Walking the beat in the halls of Horace Mann Elementary School is a new breed of Watch D.O.G.S., keeping the peace.

That breed would be human. About 40 men have joined the school’s new program as D.O.G.S., which stands for Dads of Great Students.

Benjamin B. Boyce, of Brigham City, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, at the Brigham City South Stake Center, 865 S. 300 West, in Brigham City, Utah. Friends and family may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 East, in Brigham City, and from 9:45 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. Monday at the church. (NICHOLAS DRANEY/Standard-Examiner) North Ogden Elementary School is in North Ogden Park, just a stone’s throw away from the original building. School had to remain in session during construction, so the city “loaned” the new school’s space to the district. The district then razed the old building, and now the city uses that space for a park and parking space for residents.
