Man accused of cutting off girlfriend's finger

PRESCOTT, Ariz. -- Authorities say an Arizona man is due in court to face charges after forcing his girlfriend to let him cut off her finger to earn his trust.

Yavapai County sheriff's investigators say 48-year-old Ronald Gene Olivier has a court hearing Friday after being charged with kidnapping, domestic violence, aggravated assault, criminal damage and resisting arrest.

He remains in custody after being arrested on Dec. 12.

The 43-year-old victim told authorities she was threatened with death if she didn't allow her finger to be severed with a sword.

Investigators say Olivier placed the victim's hand on a table and sliced off a portion of her left pinky finger.

She ran to a neighbor's home and sought help after the attack.
