RAWLINS, Wyo. -- Three workers injured in a fire at the Sinclair refinery near Rawlins, Wyo., were taken to a burn center in Colorado in critical condition.

FARMINGTON — Kristi Horne cried as she told jurors it was only a matter of luck that no one in her family was seriously hurt the day of the Silver Eagle explosion three years ago.

“If I had been home two minutes earlier, my babies would have been in my arms,” Horne said Friday in 2nd District Court in Farmington.

Brian and Kristi Horne are suing Silver Eagle Refining, saying they can’t sell their home because it has been stigmatized due to the damage caused by the refinery explosion on Nov. 4, 2009, in Woods Cross, and the fear that another explosion, or worse, could occur in the future.

BOUNTIFUL — Local activists warn that there is more bad air on the horizon for Davis County residents, if area refineries are granted the necessary permits to expand their operations.

Faced with sluggish sales at home, American refineries are shipping gasoline, diesel and other petroleum products abroad in record amounts, turning the country into a net exporter of fuel.

WOODS CROSS -- The Holly Corporation, parent company of Holly's Woods Cross refinery, and Frontier Oil Corporation announced Friday the completion of a merger to form HollyFrontier Corporation.

The merger changes little on the local front for those who work at the plant, and those who live around it.

The outside of the refinery will be branded with the new HollyFrontier logo.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. -- The state of Wyoming has reached a nearly $5.4 million settlement with Sinclair Wyoming Refinery Co. for a spill that killed dozens of waterfowl last year.

AMERICAN FORK -- Neighborhood complaints of a pungent smell have prompted an oil refinery in American Fork to shut down.
