Garbage containers needed along Ogden trails

Last Edit: 1 week 3 days ago (Nov 10 2009 - 12:04pm)

(UNEDITED) Well, we've finally decided to write about the trashy conditions along the Ogden River trail and riverbank from Washington Blvd. to and around the Twenty-first Street Pond (or whatever it's called these days) and its surrounding areas, and the section north of Parker Drive to the Hill Air Force Base rail tracks and its surrounding areas. All of this, to our understanding, is owned by Ogden City. We're writing about these particular areas because they are places that have been recently cleaned by us and some friends of ours.

We are never surprised to see the large amount trash that is left on or near the Ogden River trail and riverbank and around the pond. But, what we can't understand is why there are not trash receptacles in these places. We're not so naive as to think that everyone would put their garbage in cans, since there will always be those who purposely or carelessly leave their trash in other places. But, at least, there would be a choice. And, besides, there would be places to put some of the garbage that we collect.

Also, speaking of garbage containers, we really appreciate Riverdale and West Haven for providing containers along their sections of trails. We've noticed that the amount of on-the-ground trash is much less than that of Ogden.

Come on Ogden. Get your act together. If you're going to provide trails, also put out garbage containers. It only makes sense.
