Learn to check facts in e-mail propaganda

(UNEDITED)You know, the internet is a wonderful thing. It opens the door for the average person to express their views and disseminate information.

Now, via email, I can create my own reality, post it in an email and send it to everyone I know, they in turn will send it to everyone they know, and suddenly in a matter of days, it may be considered truth by millions. So you see, it really doesn't matter if the information I send is based on fact or truth, so long as it suits my agenda. I say this in response to the onslaught of misinformation and twisted propaganda I have received lately, most directed at debasing our President's character, credibility, and morality. No Mr. Obama is not my messiah, he is my president, and I have my concerns over some of his policy agendas.

Technology may be our Achilles heel. As I am sure you receive such emails, we must behoove ourselves to check the origins and truth of the matter. One way is www.snopes.com, another is www.factcheck.org. By doing so, before forwarding messages that have inflamed our ire, we can contribute to rebuilding what once was a nation of intelligent individuals. Otherwise we may inadvertently be contributing to the anarchy that most of these messages make us fearful of. Remember that whoever originated them has an agenda. We need to check information, lest we become lambs to the slaughter.

For many, the truth is only an afterthought or an oversight.
