(UNEDITED)About 3 years ago my wife and I co-signed a car loan for our daughter.
I understand the legal ramifications of being a co-signer, but at the time there were very few options, so we felt compelled to do so.
Our daughter has been pretty good for the most part, with a few exceptions. There have been periods of unemployment, and unexpected emergencies that prevented her from making her payment on time, currently she is running 1-month behind, month after month.
I regret that the Examiners policy is to not allow me to mention the lenders name. Because of their business practices I will NEVER do business with this institution again and wish I could convince all you readers to do the same.
This no exaggeration, we get at least 10 calls EVERY DAY starting at 8 a.m. and continuing right up until 9 p.m. from the "Debt Collection Dept."
No matter what arrangements have been made, or information that has been conveyed, the calls continue.
It has gotten to the point that we don't even answer our phone anymore.
On the rare occasions that we choose to speak to the caller, we are insulted, sworn at and disrespected.
My wife and I just recently re-financed our home which was also with this same lender. I instructed my loan officer that even if it meant paying a higher interest rate, I did not want my home loan to be "sold" to this lender.
There have also been occasions that I've had to visit one of their local bank branches to conduct other business, and have left seething with anger as to how inept and unprofessional they conduct themselves.
Perhaps this policy of harassment is legal, but I resent being subjected to it, and encourage consumers to reward good customer service by doing business with only those that provide it.
