Some BYU fans set poor example

Last Edit: Nov 30 2009 - 2:07pm

(UNEDITED)I am a diehard Utes fan, and have been for years, who roots for BYU except for when they are playing Utah or Weber State. I attended the Utah-BYU game Saturday wondering how I would be treated wearing my Utah attire. Some fans snubbed their noses at us, but most were very friendly. The only problem was the family, four rows down, that wouldn't sit down the whole game and even made it worse by standing on the bench. The father even stated, "This is cougar stadium and you don't deserve to see" to the Ute fan who politely asked him to sit down. Even BYU fans yelled at him to sit down knowing that the Ute fan wouldn't be able to see the game. He remained standing. Except for that family I had a wonderful experience at the game. Most the BYU fans were fun to hang with. I made some new friends.

Should I judge all the BYU fans by this one bad apple?

My son and I talked on the drive home about what a fun experience it was, until we heard Max Hall's comments. His comments sure tainted my experience. What arrogance to call me classless and the school that my son graduated from classless. Do I turn around and act like him, and say the same thing about The LDS church, BYU, and all their fans because of his stupid catergorizing comments, whom he represents?

Yes there are extreme Utah fans who have done stupid things, but BYU fans are not exempt from stupid acts either. But this wasn't just a fan saying this.

This is a prime example of why BYU was voted the most hated school by fans from all across the country.

I just know that I will have a hard time rooting for BYU now.
