This letter is in response to the article from November 17th from the Standard Examiner staff in the Our View section. The article said among other things that "One of the most irksome things about working in the private sector -- where consistent productivity is required -- is to read about the extra holidays that the public sector enjoys." and in that same article "We need holidays to celebrate important events and recharge our own batteries." That is the sentence they used when describing their paid holidays. The sentence they use for the public sector employee is that it is "irksome to read about the extra holidays that the public sector enjoys." Standard Examiner holidays are needed to celebrate and recharge. Public sector employees don't need to celebrate or recharge I guess. You know what is "irksome" to public sector employees ? That the private sector Standard Examiner staff uses the paper to whine about not having enough paid days off.
