Thanks for help with Point-In-time Count of homeless

(UNEDITED)Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I want to take a moment to express my thanks to those individuals who participated in the 2010 Point-In-Time Count of the Homeless in Weber County. There were many agencies that collaborated to make this count both successful and accurate. And there are some not-so-well known individuals and/or groups deserving of acknowledgement. There were thirty-six individuals who volunteered on Wednesday, January 30th, 2010 to go out into the community and approach and conduct a fifteen question survey of our often neglected residents.

These groups include Volunteers in Policing (VIPs), Citizen CORE, Ogden Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT), United States Census Bureau, staff of the Standard Examiner, staff of the Weber Housing Authority and several citizens with huge and humble hearts. A special thanks to our dear friends at the St. Anne's Homeless Center who were gracious enough to make stocking "hat" lunches as well as hats, gloves and blankets for our respondents.

The information gathered during this event will be used to solicit and secure funding from both the State of Utah and the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development to help provide services and resources to this often overlooked population. The Point-In-Time Count for 2009 showed that there were 2,060 individuals in Weber County that experienced homelessness.

Thank you again to all of those involved. You have already made a difference in the lives of deserving individuals in our community.
