(UNEDITED) What happened to all those people who insisted that I should support our last president because he was elected by the people, or really selected by the Supreme Court?
Why aren't they supporting our current administration? It was elected by the people. Where did all of the fiscal conservatives suddenly come from, they were nowhere to be seen from 2000 thru 2008. If "trickle down" economics works, why did our deficit balloon under the two administrations who proclaimed it as "God's gift to the world"?
Why is appropriate for a bureaucrat to tell me how much my pain and suffering in the case of medical malpractice is worth? Why can't a jury of my peers make that decision? Why is Ronald Regan given credit for the collapse of the Soviet Union when it was Richard Nixon who drove a wedge between them and Communist China? He showed the world, the Soviet Union, and China they were not a united communist front.
Why is appropriate to raise taxes on tobacco, hopefully to reduce or long term health care costs but is not appropriate to restrict high fat products being sold in our schools vending machines? Don't both achieve the same end?
Why was Senator Robert Bennett who in conjunction with a Democrat proposed a health care bill which was a good starting point, so vehemently attacked for doing so? Why does Utah keep sending people like Robert Bishop and Orin Hatch back to Washington? They vote the "straight party line" not for what is best for Utah.
Why do "We the People" elect representatives that are so unwilling to work across the aisle, that nothing can be accomplished. Why are profits of insurance companies more important than the health of our citizens? Why does the Utah State Legislator spend our tax monies on "message bills" instead of doing what they were elected to do?
These are purely rhetorical questions I have my own answers to these questions. I only hope to get others to start thinking independently.
