(UNEDITED)I'm shocked and appalled that the Larry H. Miller Group wants to bulldoze the Cinedome 70 in Riverdale and 40 years of Ogden history to make room for endless rows of one PT Cruiser and Town & Country after another.
Riverdale Road doesn't need another car dealership. Currently, there are 13 car dealerships on Riverdale Road alone. If you expand your search to include Ogden, you will find at least 23 car dealerships total. Plus, it's going to be a Chrysler
dealership. For those of you who don't know, Chrysler needed a cash infusion of almost $7 billion from the federal government.
Vandals, time, and the presence of mammoth movie theaters lead to the downfall of the Cinedome. It's a crumbling shell of its former self, but that doesn't mean we should put a car dealership where it once stood. And besides, we've all had friends who were down on their luck or their health started to crumble. We don't let those friends fade into the distance; we rise to the challenge and help them return to their former glory.
The last thing Ogden needs is another car dealership, especially at the expense of an Ogden landmark. There are plenty of other places that the Larry H. Miller Group could be building their dealership anyway. If they really wanted to do something good for the community, they could renovate the Cinedome and turn it into a Larry H. Miller Theater. We don't need another car dealership.
