(UNEDITED)This letter is written to "Enlighten" the author of "Exemption-from-law attitude is appalling" per his request.
He asked for a "list of countries that allow crossing the border without proper identification". Enlightment #1) Being a native Southern Californian, I have crossed the Mexican border walking and driving numerous times into Mexico, and "never" been asked for I.D. or any documentation since age 5 to 77. This is crossing into Tijuana, Mexicali, Nogales, Juarez and Del Rio. I have also crossed 5 European borders by train and have not been asked for I.D. at a couple borders, for one, the Swiss border into Italy. Apparently the writer may have only flown and never walked or driven across the Mexican border.
I am a USMC veteran born in the USA of Mexican decent and have been asked where I was from, after the officer saw my address and photo on my drivers license, registration, insurance and "surname". I have asked many Anglos or whites if they were ever asked where they are from or proof of citizenship after showing their I.D. Answer, zero.
Enlightment #2) The writer never indicated he was ever asked for citizenship or where he was from by a cop. He is ignorant of the difference between Drivers license, car insurance or car registration and citizenship documentation.
Enlightment #3) The point most people miss in immigration laws like Arizona, it obviously targets all Mexicans/Hispanics legal, US Born or illegal. This is called "profiling", which is illegal. This is appalling to me and the millions of US citizens like me. Only dark skinned or by surname indicated in your I.D. will you be under "reasonable suspicion" per Arizona SB 1070, Article 8, line 20, paragraph B. Hopefully this will enlighten the author and many who have not read the Arizona bill spreading misinformation. Please read from the horse's mouth, not here-say from the likes of Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh, tea party and many letters to the editor.
