(UNEDITED)Several years ago, my son, was racing BMX. At that time, they raced at 4th street park in Ogden. Jared(my son) and two of his other cousins became quite good, and received several trophies. Now, there is no BMX track in Ogden, and the closest one is out by 9000 South in SLC, and clear out west, RAD BMX.
What a fun clean sport for kids to get into, when there are so many things we don't want them in. Jared's daughter, Aliyah, is now racing, as well as two of her cousins. Mathew Beringer, one of her cousins, went PRO, and participates in the X Games. How about doing a second generation story on these kids. Aliyah, is now 7. She started racing last year, and continually gets 1st and 2nd place trophys, even against the boys. She is amazing,
and would make a terrific human interest story. There have been rumors for the past 30 years, that we were supposed to get a new track in Ogden. How about it Ogden. Erect a track where our kids can race, and we don't have to travel for an hour. Show
what an amazing little girl Aliyah is. She has a great bike, and all the gear. Let's run some articles on Aliyah, Jacob Johansen,
who just turned Expert and Mathew Beringer, a local who has never stopped loving the sport. Please run an article on these kids, especially Aliyah, it would tickle her to death. Racing for less than a year, and about to advance. Let's give these kids all the
support they and their parents, the original three cousins who raced the recognition they deserve.
