I would like to welcome two great American men to the Ogden area. Robin Jennings and Mike Morgan are two retired major league ball players who are truly interested in working with youth. They have intensions to bring the Ogden area back to the time when youth sports was a huge deal in the Ogden area. More teams, and expanding all sports activities in the Ogden area will give our youth a chance to compete plus give them something to do so they hopefully will stay on the right paths.
Morgan and Jennings took ownership of what has been known as the sandlot, but is now known as Utah Sports Depot in building 3A of the Business Depot Ogden. This has always been a great place for youth to learn, plus train with and practice softball and baseball with the pros. All the same great trainers have joined in by giving lessons and clinics.
The Jennings and Morgan have also brought their ideas that will make the facility affordable for any team, plus they'll get the support of business and use fundraisers.
We need more parents to coach team sports so the thousands of kids can find a team on which to play, whether it is baseball or another sport.
People in the Ogden area should fully support this facility and expand the areas so it may become the largest youth sports park anywhere. We must act before all the large parcels are gone or some politician decides the land would be better used for industry.
Hats off to Robin Jennings and Mike Morgan, plus all the trainers at the sport depot. Thanks also to all the parents who donate their time to coaching youth sports for the love of our youth and the love of the game.
