Fabricated ideological differences have divided us

(UNEDITED)With the anniversary of 9/11 near I can't help but remembering that the one good thing that came after the tragedy was that Americans were truly united. More than anytime I have seen during my lifetime. Now years later, I have never seen our country more divided. Everyone must be either a red state conservative Republican, or a blue state liberal Democrat. It is like Hogwarts, with one side good and the other side purely evil.

And when we try to engage in dialogue discussing important issues before us, it turns into a scene from Jerry Springer. The problems before us were not created by only one side of the aisle, and the solutions will only be achieved by focusing on those problems instead of attacks based on fabricated ideological differences. I wish we could try to remember that time when we were all on the same team and working toward building our country instead of breaking it down. United we stand, divided we fall.
