(UNEDITED)Andrew Jackson Shupe and his brother, James Wright Shupe were members of the Mormon Battalion that made an historic trek from Council Bluffs,Iowa, to San Diego, California in 1846 and 1847. The Shupe brothers did not go to San Diego, but wintered at Pueblo, Colorado and later established their homes in Weber County, where they were blacksmiths. The Mormon Battalion Association is planning to memorialize their grave sites in the Ogden City Cemetery on 25 September 2010 at 11 A. M.
If you read this notice and are a descendant of Andrew Jackson Shupe, and would like to be involved in this ceremony, please e-mail a reply to me at leshupe1@gmail.com, or call me at 1-801-782-7672. Because the posterity of Andrew Jackson
Shupe and his wife Elizabeth Creager is so large it is impossible to know the whereabouts of that many people, I am using this method to make contact with some of those descendants. When you reply I will inform you on the details and location
of the ceremony.
