(UNEDITED) As a long-time supporter of Weber State basketball, I am very disappointed by the recent loss to Montana in the semifinals of the Big Sky Tournament. To say they were inefficient on offense is an understatement.
How do you only score 22 points in the first half and 18 points in the second half of an elimination game in the conference post-season tournamant? How do you start with first seven minutes of the game by not scoring a point? How do you not score a point for the last seven plus minutes of the second half when the game is on the line? How do you get outscored by 27 points during 20 minutes of basketball in the second half?
Weber got outscored 45-18 in the second half. This is embarrasing. I wish Coah Rahe would express more disappointment and regret for the players and the coaching staff after such a terrible performance. Mind you, this comes after last year's disappointing loss to these same Montana Grizzlies in the Big Sky Championship. If you remember, Weber had a 22 point lead early in the second half in their own building.
Two straight years - two dreadful second half performances to the same team. Two years ago, Weber laid an offensive egg in an embarrassing loss to Montana State in the Big Sky semifinals in the Dee Events Center. I am extremely disappointed and frustrated to say the least with how the last three seasons have ended for Weber State. And please don't tell me how great a regular-season championship is. NCAA Tournament berths are extended to the team that wins the post-season tournament. This is what I expect from Weber hoops.
