(UNEDITED) An open letter to the Ogden City and Weber County communities:
It has been two years since the death of our son, Blake, and his friend and roommate, Derek Jasper. Legal issues came to a close on March 30th.
For two years we have made treks from South Jordan to Ogden almost monthly. We have come to love both communities as Blake did. The people we have met have been helpful, considerate, genuine, and sensitive.
We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to all who have been involved during our time of need - the Ogden City Police; the Utah Highway Patrol; firefighters; EMTs; witnesses; the towing services; all of the court personnel - prosecutors with their several assistants, judges, bailiffs, our victims' advocates, recorders, clerks, etc; the Weber High lacrosse president, teams, coaches, and parents; Weber State University - administrators, the criminal justice department head, professors, and secretaries of several departments; media - newspaper and television; Kyle, Blake's friend and landlord, and his family; co-workers at Domino's Pizza; fellow students and friends; and the Jaspers, who have shared so much of this sorrowful journey with us.
Many, many thanks and our love to you,
Tim and Susan Strebel and Family
