(UNEDITED) We are writing this letter to express our gratitude for our community. Our home sits on the bank of the Weber River and over the past few weeks we have had a lot of folks from our area checking on us to make sure things were alright. Lance Peterson, Weber Counties Emergency Management Director, has been by our home several times. Kerry Gibson, Weber County Commissioner has also been by. We have been so impressed with the coordination and management of the flood crisis to this point, it has been simply amazing.
On Monday the 18th we came home from work to find the river rising...FAST. It was so scary and intimidating but before we knew it there were what seemed like hundreds of people in our yard filling and stacking sandbags to protect our home. People we recognized and people whom we are sure we have never met.
It was overwhelming to see the amount of equipment and material made available to us. Not to mention our community of neighbors and friends offering whatever they had, what ever we needed. Front end loaders, track hoes, plastic membrane. Every piece of material and equipment we needed to protect our home was miraculously at our disposal.
It is humbling to be on the receiving end of such an amazing gift of kindness, compassion, and charity. We honor you for showing up in such a big way for us and we are grateful and proud to be your neighbor and part of this community.
If you see us out in public and recognize us, please say hello so we can thank you in person!
